TWO SIGNS, ONE CONVERSATION

How do your
signs connect?

Compare traditional animal relationships, then explore what the symbolism could mean for love, friendship, and working together.

Entertainment and cultural purposes only. Scores are editorial guides to traditional symbolism, not measured chances of relationship success.

How we score

Every result starts with the same branch tables used in our animal guides. A named primary relation takes priority over the element adjustment. Scores stay the same when you swap the two signs.

95 · San He trine companions
Two different members of the same three-sign group. The third sign is still needed for the complete trine.
90 · Liu He pair
A traditional paired harmony, distinct from a San He group.
70 · Same sign
A shared animal branch receives 70, including self-punishment pairs.
65–75 · Element-based match
For all remaining pairs, start at 70. Add 5 if either fixed element generates the other, add 0 for equal elements, or subtract 5 for a controlling relation.
45 · Liu Hai harm
A named friction relation, often read through unspoken expectations.
35 · Liu Chong clash
Opposite branches in the twelve-sign cycle.

Fixed branch elements are used here, rather than the heavenly-stem element of a particular birth year. See the generating and controlling cycles. This method produces neutral results of 65, 70, or 75 within the broader 60–75 band.

Secondary notes: Xing (punishment) and Po (break) are shown separately and never deduct extra points. A harmony can coexist with a secondary relation, as with Snake–Monkey. Xing notes include pairwise membership of the Tiger–Snake–Monkey and Ox–Goat–Dog groups, Rat–Rabbit, and the Dragon, Horse, Rooster, and Pig self-pairs. Schools differ on how strongly partial groups count.

The numbers are this site's comparison method, not an ancient percentage system. Check the branch tables, punishment reference, and our calendar convention for the distinctions behind each guide.
